A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN OF ALTRON

Defining our vision From the outset, it behoves me to congratulate both our executive committee and our transformation team for their tremendous vision and hard work in continuing to give our transformation programme top priority as we move towards 2012!

Transformation and change management have become a way of life at Altron. They are not new to us and have always played a key role in our Group, ever since it was established some 43 years ago.

Particularly in a country such as ours, where social development and empowerment needs are great, our Group is wholeheartedly committed to embracing those opportunities which will make a difference to the lives of all South Africans through our corporate social investment and enterprise development initiatives. Robert Venter

Whilst I am generally pleased with our legacy of corporate social investment, as well as the progress we have made in terms of broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) over the years, there is still much work to be done. In this regard, we at Altron view transformation not only as a business imperative, but also as an integral part of our strategic philosophy to unlock value through our major BBBEE partners, Izingwe, Kagiso, Pamodzi, as well as other strong contributors such as Mahogany, Power Matla and others.

I firmly believe that Vision 2012 will greatly assist us in meeting our objectives as the leadership of this Group continues to embrace the process of change and transformation with both enthusiasm and dedication.

On behalf of the board, and the Office of the Chairman, I commend the people of Altron for their ongoing commitment and support of our endeavours and congratulate the Transformation committee for their hard work in drawing up this important Vision 2012 document. I express both my appreciation and support for its ongoing commitment, dedication and enthusiasm for the practical implementation of its contents.
