Some 46 years devoted to entrepreneurial endeavours and
initiatives in the electronics, telecommunications and power
electrical industries, both in South Africa and offshore, firstly as
design engineer, then marketing manager at STC (SA) and thereafter
chief executive and latterly as non-executive chairman of the Altron

Dr Venter has played an important role in developing the South African electronics and electrical industry into the key component of the national economy that it is today. Awarded the Sunday Times Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, and the Minister's Technology Top 100 Lifetime Achiever Award in 2009, in recognition of his significant contribution to technology development in South Africa. Joined the Altron board in 1980.

Experience: Rob Abraham is
one of South Africa’s most experienced CEOs,
having spent more than three decades in
various management roles in the ICT sector.
Rob is today CEO of Bytes Technology Group,
a R 6 billion IT company with operations in
South Africa, Africa, Mauritius and the UK.
Rob brings a passion for delivery to Bytes,
having displayed a consistent track record
at all his previous engagements. These
include the former Olivetti South Africa,
Blue Sky Networks, Usko, Bytes Healthcare
Solutions and Bytes Document Solutions.
While at Bytes Document Solutions, Rob took
the company, the distributor of Xerox in 27
African countries, to the very peak of South
Africa’s document management market. He
oversaw its growth to revenues of more than
R1,3 billion, including the acquisition of
LaserCom, PaperGeni and NOR Paper. He also
ensured the company was the most
environmentally responsible in its sector,
and that it was the most empowered company
in its sector.
